The Horry County Solid Waste Authority offers grant funding to schools in the Horry County School System for environmental education projects. Every year, schools are eligible to receive up to $250 for an environmental project.

About the Environmental Grant Application

Selection Criteria:

1) The project must include student involvement and clearly demonstrate an educational focus.
2) The project must have a clear purpose, objective and include results.
3) Preference is given to projects focused on waste reduction, reuse, recycling or composting, but projects that are environmentally related will also be considered for grant funding.
4) Grants are awarded on a first-come basis and based on fund availability.
5) Principals must endorse applications.

Grant Funding:

Subsequent to the completion of the project, grant funds will be dispersed after receipts and documentation are received to verify actual project costs. Allowable project cost expenses include cost of materials and supplies necessary to implement project, not already available in the school, as well as services rendered by personnel not employed by the school or school district. Any equipment purchased becomes the property of the school.

Final Project Summary:

Grant recipients are required to submit a one-page final summary about the project within one month of the last of your school year. Failure to submit this final summary may disqualify your school from receiving future grants from the Horry County Solid Waste Authority.
