Paper Collection Schedule
To ensure pick-up, place roll carts near dumpster area or designated area the night before your weekly collection day. Make sure the roll carts are visible and easily accessible. Roll carts with mixed paper and/or trash may not be emptied and it will be the school's responsibility to clean out their carts. Tips for Recycling Success
Promote Your Recycling Program! Involve your school's principal and other administrative staff. When students see their leaders dedicated to RECYCLING, they will follow with enthusiasm!
Challenge Classes to a Recycling Competition! Fun Competitions will generate excitement about recycling in your school. Challenges may include most paper collected per class, most creative idea for paper reuse, etc… The Horry County Solid Waste Authority would be glad to assist with prizes for the winners!
Make Recycling Bins Accessible! Place recycling bins near the trashcan to reduce contamination. Placing both by the door is efficient for students and teachers! Contamination is a serious problem, so please do your part in resolving this issue. Also, make sure the custodial staff is aware of recycling efforts - they can help eliminate contamination! Place decorative, FUN signage near or above the recycling bin to help distinguish the difference between containers.
If contamination is frequent - Don't Give Up! The Horry County Solid Waste Authority can help educate students and staff on what can and cannot be recycled. We offer presentations and training that is very beneficial in running a recycling program correctly! To schedule an educational presentation, call (843) 347-1651 and ask for Kendra Dickerson or Jennifer Sellers, Coordinators of Recycling Programs!
Buy Recycled-Content Materials! When you buy products that are made from recycled materials you are helping to close the loop in waste reduction, which saves landfill space!
Recycling Information Station

Each public school in Horry County has the opportunity to display their school's recycling information on a 17" x 23" bulletin board. The bulletin board is provided for free by the Horry County Solid Waste Authority. The board may be updated by your school's Recycling Liaison or the Coordinator of Recycling Programs.
If your school doesn't already have a bulletin board, please call (843) 347-1651 and ask for Kendra Dickerson or Jennifer Sellers, Coordinators of Recycling Programs.
