RECYCLING IN HORRY COUNTY
What Happens To The Recyclables?
The Horry County Solid Waste Authority collects all recyclables at the Materials Recycling Facility and processes them to be shipped to an end-user, who then creates new products made from recycled-content. For example, soda bottles are made into new carpet and aluminum is made into building products.
Free tours of Horry County's state-of-the-art landfill and recycling facilities are available throughout the year to community organizations, school groups and interested individuals. The landfill is located on Highway 90 in Conway. Groups larger than 12 individuals must be able to provide their own multi-passenger vehicle, such as a bus. To schedule a tour, please call the Public Education department at (843) 347-1651 or email education@solidwasteauthority.org
