Food Waste Composting

Food Waste Pilot Program

The Solid Waste Authority is conducting a pilot program for residents to compost your food scraps. The purpose of the pilot program is to divert food scraps from landfill disposal to the composting facility and to determine the receptiveness and feasibilty of offering food scrap collection to residents through the County's 25 Recycling Convenience Centers.  This program will run through December 31, 2023 and is currently only offered at the Landfill Recycling Center and the Carolina Forest Recycling Center. This is a free service and all food waste will be diverted from the landfill and made into compost. For more information on this program, click here to view flyer to get information such as what is accepted/not accepted.
